The only thing about Glee 3x14 that I actually want to talk about (other than Cough Syrup being a gorgeous cover, well done DC) is this:

Do American people actually eat peanut butter right out of the jar? Really?

god that's disgusting



Like, I actually thought that peanut butter and jam sandwiches weren't actually real things because why. why would you put that anywhere near your mouth. except then i remembered that i sometimes eat chips on my bread, or krupuk, and that when i was younger i used to put lemonade syrup or fruit sprinkles in my buttermilk and double-salted liquorice makes most non-dutch people barf, so.

Yeah, it happens. It's not the recommended use of peanut butter, and eating it straight out of the jar is kind of a...you-don't-have-self-control-about-food thing? But it happens.

It's also possible that US peanut butter is different in composition/taste from what's available in Europe, but I don't know for sure. ^^;

...I have to admit that the first thing I did was searching on Wikipedia to see if there is indeed a difference between the European and US peanut butter.

IDK, the Dutch one tastes like satay sauce.

Yeah, sounds different then! It's possible to get peanut butter that's like that in the US, but the mainstream commercial brands are sweetened (pretty much peanuts, salt, and sugar) and really thick, more of a paste than a sauce.

Oh, the peanut butter here is that thick, too, sort of just like real butter except less smooth? I just meant the taste, though. At my old work we actually made satay sauce by mixing peanut butter with ketjap manis and some other things.
