xxxHOLiC ficlet

clonechildA six-sentence fic, which I haven't done since my being deeply into Meine Liebe. I just really, really needed to work out my frustration with how xxxHOLiC ended and didn't quite know how to start writing something longer. Maybe someday this will be a real fic.
Anyway.

Characters: Watanuki, Doumeki (...ahaha)
Spoilers for the end of xxxHOLiC, but no spoilers for what exactly Doumeki's egg does.
“I have had enough of this.”
Watanuki looks up to see Doumeki scowling down at him, arms crossed, yukata impeccable as always.
“For generations we have sacrificed our lives for your whim,” Doumeki says. “I've followed the tradition because it's a family obligation, but it's going to end with me. It's been long enough.”
Doumeki Kentarou opens his hand and lets the egg fall to the ground.

...so I guess now would be the time to start planning that Loveless/Pandora Hearts crossover.
